Car windscreen tinting - what are the benefits?

Safety and comfort when driving are becoming increasingly important. In addition to the countless electronic assistants and other safety features that the car industry has been offering us in recent years, sometimes only as additional packages for a fee, car windows can still be improved.

A car tinting film as a design element is probably better known than the fact that a "simple" tinted film can do far more than simply change the appearance of the vehicle by tinting the windows.

The obvious thing is, of course, to provide privacy inside the vehicle, which decreases as the tinting level increases. What is probably less well known is that a tinted film on the glass pane, in contrast to a bare, factory-tinted glass pane, protects the occupants and the interior from UV radiation from the sun's energy and also provides heat protection. Not forgetting the energy savings due to the reduced heat input into the vehicle interior as a result of tinting the windows, as the air conditioning system has to work less.

Probably very few people think of the safety aspect when installing film first. In the event of an accident, tinting film protects passengers from flying glass splinters from the windows, which are held together by the film after a break.

Car tinting films are not just for the visual design of your vehicle - you can also add safety and comfort to your car windows!

The trend of tinted car windows has been widespread in the tuning scene for decades. However, only very few car owners are aware of the added value that car tinting film brings in everyday life.</pA car windscreen tinted with sun protection film, for example, holds the glass splinters together in the door frame in the event of a side impact, thus protecting the occupants from injuries caused by flying splinters. The technical advantages of tinted films should also be mentioned. Harmful UV rays and infrared rays can be reduced to a minimum. At the same time, the car tinting film protects the interior of your vehicle from colour fading. The tinting film also protects plastics from material fatigue and brittleness.</p

Due to the aspects of splinter protection and almost complete radiation protection, a tinting film is generally preferable to factory tinting. Of course, it is also possible to add a tinting film to an existing factory tint. However, attention must be paid to the degree of tinting of the window film, as this is increased by the factory-tinted windows. If only the sun protection for the rear passengers is to be increased or guaranteed, only the side windows can be fitted with sun protection film. The rear window remains unprotected - untinted or merely retains the factory tint.</p

Tinting with tinting film also offers a plus for your privacy by shielding you from unwanted glances into the vehicle interior with sun protection film. The tinting film prevents glare from the sun's rays and gives your car a personalised appearance.

In Germany, it is stipulated that film may not be applied to the windscreen, driver's window or passenger window. For the rear window and the rear side windows, only a tinting film certified by the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) is permitted for interior installation.

Certified safety

As a manufacturer, we have already had this test certification carried out for our automotive tinting films offered on the German market. The test certificate issued by the KBA as part of the certification process for our tinting films serves as proof of general type approval (ABG) in the event of an inspection by the TÜV or a traffic check by the police.

Glare strips made from tinted film for the windscreen

To reduce glare for the driver, it is possible to attach a window film anti-glare strip to the windscreen. It should be noted here that the anti-glare strip only covers the top tenth of the windscreen. In newer cars, there is a marking on the windscreen indicating the maximum height of the anti-glare strip.</p

Protection & safety even without tinting film

To equip your vehicle with all the benefits of a tinting film without tinting the windscreen, use the clear, ABG-certified UV-Protect Clear Shield. This offers the benefits of a UV protection film, anti-shatter film, anti-glare film and protection against infrared radiation with 90% visible light transmission, and bleach protection is also achieved by installing car tinting films.

Get to your destination relaxed - heat protection with car tinting film

Another positive aspect of windscreen tinting is that high-quality tinting film significantly reduces the heating of the vehicle interior due to solar radiation and thus increases overall well-being while driving. The improved thermal insulation and protection against the cold means that less use of the air conditioning system, or heating in winter, is required, which in turn has a positive effect on consumption costs - because you also benefit from the effect of the tinting film in winter - a window film reduces heat loss by up to 30%.
